JOB DESCRIPTION - PROJECT MANAGER
Weltmann Lighting is a commercial lighting distributor with offices in Hicksville, NY. Weltmann Lighting meets the lighting needs of a broad client base. Our mission is to assist clients in successfully solving the most challenging construction projects and exceed expectations for quality and on-time delivery.
We are seeking an individual who is smart, ambitious, organized and is very knowledgeable with computers to perform the required tasks of a Project Manager.
Summary Objective
The Project Manager is responsible for conceptual development of the lighting component for a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling and implementation. The PM plans, directs, coordinates or budgets, usually through estimator and foremen.
Qualifications
* Experience required - minimum of 2-3 yrs. experience as a Project Manager
* Must have the ability to conceptually budget, meet deadlines, handle various projects simultaneously and work effectively in a busy, team oriented environment
* Experience with construction drawings, specifications, architectural sketches and other related construction documents is preferred
* Good client management and strong relationship building skills
* Strong time management and logical decision-making ability
* Excellent computer skills (MS Office/Excel/Outlook/Adobe Acrobat Pro) and math skills
* Well-developed time scheduling and organizational skills
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Previous experience in a construction related company is required
* Previous experience with construction estimating take-off software is preferred
* Bachelor's degree in a related field required
Job Responsibilities (essential functions)
* Review and analyze drawings and specifications
* Review the scope of the project and confirm its accuracy by reviewing the bid package and drawings utilizing construction estimating take-off software
* Assist in assembling and organizing the job folder (on the PC and the actual file) per established procedures
* Prepare submittal packages for client approval
* Review returned submittals and prepare submittal logs, or create RFI's, as needed
* Prepare purchase orders for all material required with documentation
* Discuss and meet with the client to coordinate all schedule requirements
* Track all material shipments to ensure the timely and accurate arrival to the client
* Co-ordinate the efforts of all parties involved in the project, which include the client, architects, consultants, contractors and manufacturers
* Project accounting functions including managing the budget, tracking expenses and minimizing exposure and risk to the project
* Monitor the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings with the client and management team
* Periodic inspection of construction sites and attendance at job site meetings
* Identify the elements of the project design and construction likely to give rise to disputes and claims
* Provide other services such as change order pricing and attending pre-bid conferences
* Oversee the project from start to finish
* Perform job closeout at project completion per established policy and procedures
* Other responsibilities as assigned
